JUST A LITTLE BIT ABOUT EACH PROGRAM.
THE PURCHASE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE DOWN PAYMENT AND CLOSING COSTS TO PEOPLE THAT ARE INTERESTED IN MOVING INTO AND PURCHASING A HOME HERE IN TAMARAC.
ALL OF THESE PROGRAMS WILL BE ASSISTING RESIDENTS WHO ARE EARNING UP TO 120% OF THE AREA MEDIAN INCOME.
THE OWNER OCCUPIED REHABILITATION PROGRAM WILL BE SIMILAR TO OUR MINOR HOME REPAIR PROGRAM, BUT IT WILL FOCUS ON WEATHERIZATION, PRIMARILY ROOF, WINDOWS, AND DOORS, AND THEN THE RESIDENTIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, THE CITY HAS DONE IN THE PAST UP TO SIX CYCLES.
THIS WILL ASSIST UP TO $5,000 WITH HOA FEES AND DUES, RENTAL GAP INCREASES, INSURANCE, UTILITY PAYMENTS, AND PAST DUE RENT, AND MORTGAGE PAYMENTS.
JUST FOR EVERYONE'S BENEFIT, JUST SHOWING HERE THE HOUSEHOLD INCOME LIMITS THAT SHOW IN UP TO THE 120 FROM THE VERY LOW, STARTING AT 30%, EXTREMELY LOW, UP TO THE 120%, WHICH IS OUR MODERATE.
ON THIS CHART, YOU CAN SEE THE NUMBER OF HOUSEHOLD IS AT THE TOP, AND THEN WHAT THAT PERSON COULD POTENTIALLY QUALIFY FOR UP TO $85,000 OR AS LOW AS UP TO $40,000 IF YOU'RE 120 AND YOU'RE MODERATE.
THE MULTIFAMILY PAINT PROGRAM IS SOMEWHAT NEW.
THIS IS REIMBURSABLE, AND THIS GRANT WILL BE UP TO $20,000 FOR EXTERIOR PAINT FOR MULTIFAMILY BUILDINGS.
THIS IS THE PROPOSED BUDGET FOR EACH PROGRAM.
THE WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM WOULD ASSIST UP TO 15 PROJECTS.
THAT BUDGET, THE ALLOCATION IS HALF A MILLION DOLLARS OR 500,000.
THE PURCHASE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM WOULD BE AT A BUDGET OF 600,000, THE MULTIFAMILY PAINT PROGRAM, THAT WOULD BE A BUDGET OF 100,000.
THE RESIDENTIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM WILL BE A BUDGET OF 300,000.

THIS AWARD WILL RECOGNIZE EMPLOYEES WHO MAKE AN IMPACT IN THEIR SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC THROUGH LEADERSHIP AND EXCELLENCE.

I'M PRESENTING TODAY ON THE TAMARAC PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT.
THIS IS A CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT THAT THE CITY IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON.
A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND ON THAT PROJECT.
THE TAMARAC PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT INCLUDES LIGHTING, UPGRADES, AND REPLACEMENT, FENCING, A WALKING PATH, AND A BLUE LIGHT SYSTEM.
THE CURRENT PROJECT, AS IT WAS BUDGETED, IS $996,309.
THAT INCLUDES THE GRANT FUNDING THAT WAS BROUGHT UP EARLIER ON THE AGENDA.
AT THE 2024 STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION, THERE WAS A COMMISSION DECISION TO ADD A TRACK TO THIS PROJECT AS WE'RE LOOKING AT IMPROVEMENTS.
STAFF CONDUCTED A SURVEY WITH TAMARAC RESIDENTS.
ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY RESIDENTS IN THE LOCAL AREA WERE SURVEYED.
THEN THE ADDITION OF THE TRACK, WHICH IS A 200 METER TRACK AND TRACK LIGHTING CHANGES THE PROJECT COST TO 3.1 MILLION, WHICH INCLUDES ALL THE EXISTING IMPROVEMENTS AS WELL AS THE TRACK.
THIS IS JUST A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND ON WHERE THE SURVEY WAS DISTRIBUTED.
IT WAS DISTRIBUTED IN THE PROXIMITY OF TAMARAC PARK, PRIMARILY TO THOSE WHO CURRENTLY USE THE PARK, TAMARAC ELEMENTARY, FAMILIES IN OUR PROGRAMS, THOSE WHO ATTENDED SPECIAL EVENTS.
THE SURVEY ASKED WHAT ELEMENTS WOULD THEY LIKE TO SEE IN THE PARK OR WHAT ELEMENTS DO THEY ENJOY.
THEY COULD SELECT AS MANY AS THEY WANTED.
WE GAVE FOUR OPTIONS, AND THEY LET US KNOW WHICH OF THOSE WERE THEIR TOP AMENITIES.
THE SURVEY RESULTS, AGAIN, WE HAD 130 WHO PARTICIPATED ON TOP WALKING PATH AND FITNESS STATIONS, 50% OF THOSE 130, WERE IN FAVOR OF THAT, 40% FOR MULTIPURPOSE FIELDS, 22% FOR RUNNING TRACK, AND 10% FOR BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL FIELDS.
HERE IS A MAP OF TAMARAC PARK AS IT CURRENTLY IS LAID OUT.
WE HAVE THE RECREATION CENTER AND THEN WE HAVE OUR MULTIPURPOSE FIELDS AND OUR TWO BASEBALL FIELDS THAT ARE THERE.
AS THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS, AGAIN, THIS INCLUDES ALL OF THE IMPROVEMENTS THAT WERE ORIGINALLY PART OF THE PROJECT, AS WELL AS A TRACK AND TRACK LIGHTING.
YOU CAN SEE HERE WE HAVE A TRACK WITH THE FIELD THAT'S IN BETWEEN, AND THEN A MULTI PURPOSE FIELD THAT'S MOVED OVER TO THE SIDE, STILL MAINTAINING OUR BASEBALL FIELD ON THE NORTH END, AS WELL AS OUR MULTIPURPOSE FIELDS THAT ARE THERE.
THERE'S A FEW OPTIONS THAT ARE HERE, THE ORIGINAL PROJECT, WHICH DOESN'T INCLUDE THE TRACK.

BUT I BELIEVE DESIGN BID WILL BE THE QUICKEST AND FASTEST WAY.

THIS IS A PROJECT THAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON COMMUNITY INPUT TO GAUGE THE PROCESS OF MOVING FORWARD WITH THAT GLADES GOLF COURSE.
WE DO HAVE FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF 3.3 MILLION THAT IS ALLOCATED FOR THIS PROJECT.
BASED ON THE SURVEY RESULTS, WHICH WE'RE BRINGING UP NOW.
WE CONDUCTED A SURVEY AT THE 2024 DISTRICT MEETINGS.
WE SAW A FAVORABLE AMOUNT OF 70% THAT WENT TOWARDS LEAVING THE GOLF COURSE AS IS AND RENOVATING IT WITH THE GREENS, RENOVATING THE PATHWAYS.
WE SAW THAT AT OUR DISTRICT MEETINGS IN 2024.
WE THEN DID AN ONLINE SURVEY, WHICH CLOSED ON FEBRUARY 28TH.
WE HAD 1,242 RESPONSES, WHICH IS GREAT INVOLVEMENT FROM THE COMMUNITY.
WE ALSO HAVE A COMMUNITY WORKSHOP, AND WE FOUND THAT 80% PREFERRED KEEPING THE GOLF COURSE AS IS, AS OPPOSED TO ADDING IN A PUTT-PUTT COURSE OR SHORT COURSES.
THE DISCUSSION HERE IS DIRECTION FROM THE CITY COMMISSION AND MOVING FORWARD.
WE DO HAVE FUNDS ALLOCATED FOR THE IMPROVEMENTS AS IS WITH THE PATHWAYS, THE GREEN WAYS.
WITH THAT DIRECTION, WE CAN MOVE FORWARD WITH THAT PROJECT BASED ON THE DISCUSSION OF THE COMMISSION.

THIS YEAR, THE COMMISSION WILL DO THE SAME.
